Kimpton Hotel Returning to New Orleans in Early 2020

Visitors and locals of New Orleans will see a new hotel in early 2020. JMI Realty, headquartered in Austin, Texas, revealed plans to open Kimpton Hotel Fontenot. The 202-guestroom hotel will feature a restaurant, corner cafe, and bar. After a 15-year absence from the market, Kimpton’s New Orleans location will be blocks away from the French Quarter and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.


Tampa Officials Issue 242 Building Permits in Recent Weeks

City officials in Tampa have issued 242 building permits over the last few weeks, according to online platform BuildZoom. Of the 242 permits, 44 are for new building construction with the remainder being repair and renovation permits. One of the more notable permits was issued to Saballos Construction Inc. for repair and renovations of a commercial structure on Tampa Bay Blvd.


Philadelphia Firm Secures $23 Million Financing for Lehigh Valley Apartment Project

Philadelphia-based real estate services firm, JLL, announced the arrangement of $23 million in financing. The funds will be used for development of the Lehigh Valley apartment complex, a 200-unit building in Wind Gap, Pennsylvania. The developer, DLP Capital Partners, will handle construction on the multifamily community.


Developer Requests Zoning Change From Sarasota City Council

In an effort to accommodate a five-story apartment complex in Sarasota, Fla., a development team has asked for a zoning change. Property owner, Tenth Way Corporation (TWC), hosted a community workshop at City Hall to discuss plans for the 111-unit complex. TWC is requesting the zoning change from Commercial to Residential Multiple Family 5 to allow a residential density up to 20 units per acre.


Canadian Company Wins Prestigious Award at International Conference in China

A North American company based in British Columbia, Canada has been named the recipient of the Aesthetic & Innovation Award. The conference, which was held in Gaobeidian, China, recognized the company’s visually striking and high-performance fiberglass window product, Universal Series™, for its “innovative qualities and cost efficiency.”
