A preliminary plan for a mixed-use community in Shawnee, Kan. has evolved. After opposition from neighbors of the Bellmont Promenade, the number of apartments has been reduced by half. The 27-acre site will include retail and residential spaces when completed.

Development over the past few months has brought unique businesses to Baldwin City, Kansas. Home to Baker University, new retail shops such as a yoga studio and bookstore hope to attract more students. Loyd Builders is overseeing construction for the site, named Baldwin Lotatorium.
