“Green” Drives Lightfair Attendance

It was expected by many that the attendance at this year’s Lighfair show would be down because it’s not in New York, the economy isn’t good, blah, blah, blah. I don’t have any actual numbers from the show people, and wouldn’t believe them anyway, but, using my own eyes, I can tell you that attendance is very strong on the show floor and in the conference sessions. I met with a ton of exhibitors on the first day and, in reflection, only talked with one person about something other than saving energy. That one person makes mica sheets for constructing lamp shades. LED technology, dimmable ballasts, controllers of all kinds, and lamp technology developments are everywhere and all focused on cutting energy costs.—Gary L. Parr
